LastButNotLeast Lola Going Green Christine Pakkala Paul Hoppe 9781590789353 Books
She's funny, zany, and just a little bit tortured. Poor girl! Living her life at the end of the alphabet isn't easy, and it isn't fair! Pakkala captures her spirit perfectly, and the result is a book and a character that young readers (and their parents) can love. Pakkala is also a marvelous writer, and her language zips and zings off the page -- just like Lola herself! Can't wait for the next book.

LastButNotLeast Lola Going Green Christine Pakkala Paul Hoppe 9781590789353 Books Reviews
Lola Zuckerman is a funny heroine in the tradition of Ramona Quimby and Pippi Longstocking. I bought this book for my daughter after seeing that it had a starred review from School Library Journal. She has since read it three times!
I bought this book for my niece, who is interested in "going green". She enjoyed it so much that she had me read it as well. Needless to say, we both loved it!
Adorable books.....perfect for our Lola
I chose five stars because I love Lola, too. She's funny but so realistic. She thinks like a second-grader, but older children and parents who will read it aloud will also identify with Lola's feelings. I'd recommend this story to kids who like to read about characters who are just like them! Looking forward to Pakkala's next Lola book to get to know Lola Zuckerman even better.
Lola is a normal girl, sweet and relates well to the reader. She wants to be recognized as special in a world where she is seemingly invisible and always last. Lola has confidence in her uniqueness that will encourage readers for years to come to be true to themselves.
This sweet, funny, endearing book features a heroine with attitude. My favorite chapter title is entitled, "Sorry, Maybe." This is an early chapter book about "going green", but the real theme is friendship, in all its glorious ups and downs. I gave this book to my neighbor's 5 year old son, and I think it would be big hit with girls or boys, kindergarten - second grade (there are some great icky garbage scenes that boys will adore). Parents will also appreciate the author's keen sense of language and spot on kid humor.
Every little girl should have a copy in her library. I bought one for each of my three nieces but read it beforehand. It is such an enjoyable book with funny parts and lessons to be learned, all in a language that is appropriate for grammar school aged children. She's such an appealing and interesting character and hopefully this will be the first of a series. The reader will definitely want to follow along with Lola and her adventures.
